Great to see Ubuntu supported by a growing number of Hoosiers!!

I just switched completely from Windows to Ubuntu a few months ago... I didn't really bother with a dual boot at first because I wasn't really totally dependent on any windows apps at all...

Gotta say I love it so far!

Welcome! If you have any questions, feel free to ask here in the forum or on our mailing list.

Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) is being released in about a month and we'll be having a release party to celebrate. Stay tuned for details!

Have been using since late January. It's nice but a little buggy on my old machine. Works way better than Windows though. Ubuntu is contagious though because of the vast array of free apps. My six year old loves the games. Open Office is good too, although the Windows version is more "customizable". Overall it is faster and more secure than Windows. It's good to see that I'm not the only person in a 50 mile radius that uses it. More folks should. It's everything it claims to be.

That's great!

If you haven't let proprietary software dig its claws into you yet, the switch is really easy.

I rarely meet people that don't have at least a claw or two in them before they hear about Ubuntu.

Heheh, it's hard to disagree with that. :-)

Hello,

I am only adding this post to keep this forum alive. I'm sure there are many more Indy West-siders from Speedway to Danville using Ubuntu. Although I sill have an issue with scanning, and Evolution is pokey, I must say Ubuntu is a great low cost alternative to Windows. My boys love the games. If you're new stick with it. Persistence pays. Ubuntu is a wonderful operating system that keeps on giving.

Peace out....
