UBUNTU installation problem on AMD

i have tried installing ubuntu 8.04 and kernel panic appears and asks to use noapic mode. I tried that but after the installtion process(rebooting) when i boot into ubuntu the same problem appears.

I tried ubuntu 7.10, wasn't able to install after waiting for 15 minutes for installation to start after selecting install.

System.
AMD Athlon64 X2 dual core 5200+
2x1GB
250GB Maxtor drive
Display: Nvidia Geforce 6150SE 256MB(Onboard)

Hi, Which image did you choose to download and burn to your installer CD?

i used the x86 version, the intel one..
none of the two show the option for live CD..

i tried the 8.04 64bit too. it did showed the option for live CD but during the loading process gave me a blank screen till i restarted it.. (waited fr about 10mins)
