I have. It's pretty good and I think I'll be using it permanently.

I don't know if they still are, but Sony was doing that on certain models of notebook for a while.

I may have missed something, but isn't it just a regular dual boot?
Unlike some other instant-on OS environments, Presto is designed to sit alongside Windows rather than replace it entirely, with it giving you the option of selecting Windows or Presto each time you boot your computer

No, this is Linux built into the motherboard itself, that you can run instead of booting a regular OS. It doesn't have all the features of a full OS, but you can jump on the net and check your email etc, with only needing a couple of seconds from hitting the on button.

Actually, the more I read, the more this looks like a very cut-down Linux on the hard drive, with a BIOS boot option. I'm not sure now. I was thinking it was like the on-board Linux ASUS is using.

Here's an article about the ASUS version.

Nope presto absolutely is not a bios based one. It can be installed on any windows box, lives on the hard drive and has a ubi like install process. Its just a teeny tiny distro that is massively cut down and has had its boot process optimised to within an inch of its life.

Its basically the child of those linux booting in 4 seconds on an eeepc stories we saw a few months ago.

Looks quite snifty though, I may have to have a play.

Presto installs in Windows like an ordinary app and, at startup, you're presented with a choice of booting into Windows or Presto, just as in a dual-boot system. It comes with OpenOffice, RealPlayer and Adobe Reader pre-installed and other apps can be installed using cnr or apt-get. I've been using Presto for all my online work for the past few weeks and I'll be buying it when it becomes available in April.

Apparently it currently does not play nicely with grub, especially if you are working with any version of (K)(X)Ubutntu installed via WUBI. They give the canned corporate response "This issue will be resolved in the final release of Presto btw..." Well, it is still in Beta after all...
