Hi all
I'm in the market for a new graphics card. Something in the $200-300. Currently, I'm eyeing the Nvidia GTX 260. Could anyone tell me how it works on ubuntu?

Also, what card manufacturer generally has better driver support for linux: nvidia or ati?

If you have any other suggestions, let me know!

Thanks for the help!

I just ordered a gtx 260 tonight from newegg! To me it seems to have the best performance for the price. I really wanted the gtx 280 but the price went way up to $400+ (was $200 something a week ago) so decided it wasn't worth it.

As for nvidia vs ati... I believe the nvidia drivers work better than ati on linux.

I'm generally a big fan of the Tom's Hardware guide to graphics cards:

Looks like the GTX 260 is probably your best bet, but I wouldn't rule out ATI entirely.
