remove icon from notification area?

I use dropbox all the time, but the icon in the notification area is unnecessary and I'd really like to get rid of it. Is this possible? The application itself doesn't have an option and I want to keep the notification area.

Bunpitybump, though I believe that (for the time being at least,) it is not possible without turning off dropbox. Sorry, mate...:(

I think there are many of us waiting for a way to remove/hide/edit that bright, blue icon..
