I am having an issue installing Ubuntu. After I click install or run from live CD, it just takes me to a black screen. I left it alone for 7 hours on both options nothing happens.. After so long maybe 30 minutes I don't even hear the CD rom moving.

My specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
4 gigs
9600GT FXF 515mb
Creative Sound card
2 21inch monitors
Usb mouse/keybard

I've tried, ubuntu-8.10-desktop-amd64.iso and ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso. Ones for AMD isn't the i386 for intel? Can someone help me with any suggestions? :)

Thank you very much for your time.

When you get to the screen where it asks you to Install or Run Live press F4 and select 'Safe Mode' then select the Run Live option.

If I choose Run Live, will I be able to install the OS once I have the client running? My goal is to install it. Thank you very much for the feed back.

yes, once inside the live "trial" os, there will be an icon to install to your system.

It worked! I just needed to press F4 and start in safe mode and I was able to install right away. :) Thank you very much!
