View Full Version : Page full of different RSS-Feeds as Firefox Start Page

The idea is as simple as obvious (i find): What better start page for firefox than a page full of rss-feeds of my choice? I was quite disappointed to find out there seems to be no firefox plugin that does that. i tried Sage, but it's not very handsome, i would like all my feeds to be visible at once.

i made a mockup tho show what i mean (of course there would be a different feed in every box):

the closest thing i found was amphetadesk (http://www.disobey.com/amphetadesk/), but it looks a bit complicated to install and besides i don't get why such a page would require an application other than firefox to be running in the background.
i thought this could be implemented just as a "simple" page, but then again i am no web designer.

any ideas?

EDIT: is this the right section for such a thread? i didn't know where to put this, i know it's not water cooler talk:oops:

How about something like netvibes.com? You can add RSS feeds.

Agreed,

though personally I switched to Thunderbird, since I didn't like all the extra stuff that gets added to google (when you're signed in).

thank you for netvibes, it is quite what i asked for. still, after trying it out for 10 minutes i decided i can't use it. the ui elements on that site are so unresponsive it makes me itch, although i disabled "visual effects" in the settings. the (unnecessary) hover rectangle around links lags behind half a second. i hate those websites that make a 4-years-old laptop look outdated. sorry for the rant.
i definitely need something less fancy.
