installed with wubi bunt wont leave loading screen...

hey guys, first post! (of hopefully many)

i installed ubuntu via wubi on my hp laptop that is currently running xp and partitioned it. when i select ubuntu at startup, however, it will go through the screen with the ubuntu logo and the orange loading bar, but then it goes to a dos-like screen that says 'loading' and never leaves. ( i left it like that for an hour and a half, came back, and it was still that way.)

any ideas how i can get this to work?

Sad to see no replies, I'm getting very same result. Comes up to a non-graphic terminal. My machine is a thinkpad running vista business. Maybe I'll disable the UAC and reinstall. Yes, "it should just work", but it sure doesn't.
