Hello Everybody

I'm new here, new to Linux and I really hope to find help here! :-)

I have a white Intel MacBook from last summer ('08 ), with OS X 15.5.6 Leopard on it. Through the last half year I have had Windows XP SP3 running by Boot Camp on a FAT32-partition. I would like to try to have Ubuntu running as well (and not just on a Live-CD or flashdrive), if it is possible, without destroying the stability of the OS X and the WinXP?

I found this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MactelSupportTeam/AppleIntelInstallation - and on 6.6. there is a description of what to do, in my case. According to that guide, I have allready (a half year ago) done 1-9 - except:

3 Don't install it through Bootcamp.

Actually I HAVE installed WinXP through BootCamp. Can I then carry on following the guide's 10-18 or will this cause trouble?

More over, a couple of months ago, I have recreated WinXP through a disc image earlier made in WinClone - http://twocanoes.com/winclone/ - does this have anything to say?

Can I still use WinClone to backup the WinXP-partition after installing Ubuntu?

I really hope you can help me - I'm SO READY to start using Ubuntu!! :-)

You should get this post over in the Apple Forums, more help would be there.

Are you going to simply shrink your XP partition? If so, Ubuntu Live CD could shrink your XP partition, but I have no idea how that works due to bootcamp, etc.

There are multiple ways to get your Mac booting Ubuntu, but it will get very confusing if you don't follow one guide and stick to it.

I suggest http://www.uluga.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=5003001

However, it may be outdated in comparison to what the Mactel team is doing, so I suggest posting over in the Apple Intel users area to get the best suggestions...
