Ok I run Dansguardian on my system. I have looked at the Denied report I get to open the IP address for the repair utility and the downloader. The repair utility works fine, but the background downloader still has issues.

At first it was Torrent not found, so I unblocked the IP for the wow tracker. Now the background downloader starts, but no peers ever connect. I left it up for a few hours and not one byte downloaded at all. Now thankfully, there is direct downloads at certain places, but would still like this to work.

Also, I did get the .torrent from the wow tracker to be used in a bittorrent client, but still no downloads happen.

The problem is not just the tracker IP address, but the fact that torrenting connects to a wide range of other users.
I suggest if you absolutely must use a firewall that you download your patches from mirror sites instead of using the downloader.

ps. it's really just easier to turn off the background downloader and just deal with it the download on patch day imho
