install ubuntu in text mode

i want to enable text mode installation by default using an ubutnu 8.10 cd.also i dont have ubuntu alternate cd.

You need the alternate install CD to be able to install in text mode.

that means there is no other way to install ubuntu in text mode..anyway thanks
