Pretty much the same, I like intel myself, but an amd guy will say the opposite. Don't think it will make much of a difference I would say the cheaper one.

Damn, I'm never seen a computer company recommend Vista Home Basic before.

It's not obvious to me from the specs listed how they've set up the clock speeds on the machines, but a preliminary check on the CPU via google suggests to me that the AMD processor might be fractionally faster (by a fraction of a GHz), and you can always drop the XP if you choose.

if the video card is on-board i'd say go with intel

A faster clock speed doesn't equal a better processor

well amd uses more energy, so Intel.

True, but it is a cheaper machine. And the only difference I noticed speed-wise was a fraction of a gigahertz, not worth worrying about. There's probably other things to take into account, like on-board sound card.

All things being equal I would get the AMD only because it gives you an XP license to use (has value) in a dual boot or just in a VM.

How much do they cost?

The answer is right in front of you. The first one costs 1950 South African rands, and the second costs 1850 South African rands.

Okay, so I had to Google which currency used the symbol R!

In dollars intel would $201 and the amd would be $190.91. As todays exchange rate of $1=R9.90

In that case I would go with the AMD setup you save R100, and get a copy of XP Any difference in performance would be negligible
