I'm looking for some easy to install programs for watching online TV in Ubuntu. On Windows I use Sopcast, PPStream and TVU. There are a tonne of other TV watching programs and they are easy to install. Are there any good ones for Linux or would I be better using Windows to watch TV online?

This may not be quite what you wanted but have a look at http://wwitv.com/television/217.htm which allows you to view a lot of non DRM television streamed from around the world.

That's a really cool website. Is it legal in U.S. and Canada?

I don't think so since the shows they stream aren't encrypted.

There's a Linux version of Sopcast. Works great!

Hmm I'm not sure how being encrypted (DRM'd) is relevant.

Hulu is only accessible from U.S.-based IP addresses. Some work around it by using a U.S. proxy server though.

When I looked at hulu I could only find pieces of TV shows. Can you watch whole episodes? Also try channelsurfing.net

Yes you can watch whole episodes. However, I've noticed that hulu seems to be very slow, a site like youtube, I can watch a video, and if it has a buffering problem, it is usually because someone near me is using a lot of bandwidth (or I've killed my connection), but hulu, pauses all the time to rebuffer, and it really kills the experience. THis seems to happen on both my wifi card, and on an physically connected computer.
