I have a 64 bit computer. To get it up and running, I installed 8.10 32 bit (which I had on hand). Is there a way to upgrade 8.10 to 64 bit OR upgrading to 9.04 64 bit WITHOUT reinstalling? Or will I have to download a new live CD? All help and advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Don't think you can go from i686 to x86_64 without reinstalling.

OK, I can live with that. I run a dual boot system, so will reinstalling keep my set partitions?

If you want to use the same partition(s), just pick the Manual option when you get to the partition screen. Then tell the installer to mount whichever partition you want to / and format it. And if you have more than one, mount the other one at the window. But if you have one for /home and you want to keep all your personal files & settings, then mount that partition to /home but do not format it or you can kiss your stuff good bye.
