View Full Version : [ubuntu] Sharing Broadband connection with rest of network

March 14th, 2009, 07:50 PM
My only source of internet at my house is a Wireless Broadband Connection (AT&T to be exact). I want to use my Ubuntu 8.10 install to share that connection with the rest of the house. I have a wireless router that all the computers are connected to in some way, either wireless or lan.

So I downloaded Firestarter, installed, set up ICS in there.. but once I enable my wireless Network Manager starts using the Wireless connection to attempt to connect to the internet instead. How do I fix this? What is the best way to go about this... or should I just buy a router w/ the build in PCMCIA card slot that works with these cards?

Here (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Internet/ConnectionSharing) is a How-To for Internet/connection sharing... near the bottom is this (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/ShareEthernetConnectionThroughWireless) link for wireless.
