I realize that this is a reported bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/+source/linux/+bug/272247), but it seems like it should have been fixed by now. The bug: when I start up Intrepid, it stalls on bootup when the bar is going back and forth. I hold a key and it resumes. It won't resume unless I hold the key. Plugging in the AC cable also resumes the startup.
Consistent with the bug report, I have the affected system: an AMD 64 on a Compaq F700 series computer.
Has anyone hacked this bug? Is there any word on when it is supposed to be fixed?
Hardy did not do this on this system.
Ubuntu is quirky and somewhat buggy but remains far superior to Vista.
