Hi, I typed this into the terminal:

sudo apt-get install conky

I have checked in synaptic and it is there - but I cant seem to find or activate this program?

Any help to get this to work would be appreciated - thanks!

You need to start the program by typing conky in a terminal and pressing enter. Conky should also be added to your startup processes so from now on when you boot it should appear on your desktop.

In fact now that i have had a better look at Conky it does look good.....

Does anyone reading this know how to edit the actual conky file?

Search for conkyrc. There are many threads and examples. You can even D/L other peoples .conkyrc file and edit that to start.
