Hey guys,

I am trying to install Ubuntu 8.10 on an old computer with the following specs:
DELL Dimension 8100
Pentium 4 1.4Ghz
512MB RD-RAM
40GB HD

I downloaded ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso from the site, then did a MD5 Checksum on both it and the CD, and they both checked out, but when I boot the Live CD, then select an option, it just sets there and freezes. It sometimes even has a little rectangular glitch on the screen, but it does nothing beyond that.

What could my issue be?

Thanks for any help in advance!

When you get to the boot menu on the livecd hit F4 (or F6), this should get you another list of more choices (boot options). Make a note of which ever option works for later. You may need the info.

I tried both the Safe Graphics Mode and the OEM mode and they both freeze just like in normal mode. No go there.
