I've recently tried installing Ubuntu 8.10 on a Sony VAIO and run into some difficulty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Once the machine boots up, the install screen displays with the selection of installing Ubuntu, Memory test, etc.
When trying to install Ubuntu, nothing happens. The install freezes. When I try to run the live CD portion, nothing happens. Again the install appears frozen.
I've downloaded the alternate text version and have not yet had better luck. I've searched the forums, but have not quite found anyone with the same problem.
