KIa Ora
Absolute virgin to Ubuntu, Internet and Forums
Installed on an older machine and my view screen does not fit my monitor
Probably a simple fix but the solution eludes me
Have posted several times in different forums in different ways
Getting a useful answer is like taking a hard **** - Painful and Unpleasant

Cheers - constipated

Ok, I've seen your multiple posts, and I'll give it a shot. It sounds like you don't have the correct drivers installed. What version of Ubuntu are you running, and do you know what video card you have?

If you go to System>Administation>Hardware Drivers, it should tell you there are restricted drivers available (with any luck). Choose the recommended driver, then click activate. It will ask you for your password, enter that and wait for it to download and install the driver, then reboot.

Hopefully that helps.

i will go out on a limb too......

if you don't see any proprietary drivers in use' your video card or legacy video may be unsupported or possibly just need to manually install your driver.

since we don't know and can only guess' it would be meaningless to assume a fix :)
