new intrepid install, going to grub prompt...

i dont know why but after i installed intrepid ibex (8.10) and restarted, i keep getting the following grub prompt.

i only have 1 hd so its def trying to access the right drive to boot.

i was trying to run the kubuntu off the cd in live mode so i could do a


find /boot/grub/stage1

but right after i get the kubuntu screen with the blue bar on the bottom showing progress... i get a messed up screen on my monitor, its just flashing all sorts of colors.... is my video card crapped out?? looks like its having issues displaying higher resolutions, but i did try to get it to display safe mode, its not flashing anymore but its still all messed up.
