I am trying to upgrade to Ibex/8.10 and completely lose windows, since I can't seem to log on to windows anyways. Is there a tutorial somewhere I can follow? I'm guessing Ill need to reformat the hard drive again but last time I went from windows to dual boot I had to go in safe mode and all that garbage.
Also, I've got the Ibex CD done but I want to check if its got any bugs etc. I tried this tutorial
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM
but "cd download_directory" wasnt valid. What do I do? If its not obvious, Im a newbie for linux.
Thanks

You need to replace "download_directory" with the actual name of the directory where you have downloaded the intrepid.iso. So if the intrepid iso is on your Desktop you would type

cd ~/Desktop

If you plan to upgrade to intrepid without doing a clean install you will need to use the alternate cd.

thanks, but what do you mean by the alternate cd? I just downloaded the 700mb file for ubuntu 8.10 and burned it to a blank cd.
