Hello guys,

when I boot from the Ubuntu 8.10 Live CD (on a CD-RW), I choose my language and then when I hit Install Ubuntu, the cd/dvd drive slows down to zero and the computer freezes, so that I can do nothing. Any replies appreciated.

I had a similar issue of freezing with wireless USB mouse plugged in. Try removing the mouse till you reach to hardware detection.

I unplugged everything except the electric network cable, but it did the same thing. Burned it to a CD-R and booted, still the same. Thank you anyway.

Have you checksummed (md5summed) the downloaded ISO file ? Did you burn at the slowest speed possible ? Have you checked the CD integrity ?
What are your system specs (especially RAM) ? Have you run memtest ?

I didnt check the MD5 sum and did a memtest before also the CD integrity, everything went fine.

Well I tried it again, unplugged all devices before restarting from windows and everything works like it should. Thanks to both of you, for caring :)
