Inkscape in Ubuntu?

Anyone having problems with Inkscape in Ubuntu?

I've (suddenly) started having problems with Inkscape and was wondering if anyone else was having this problem?

Things like - I click on the Maximize window button and it flickers and does nothing. If I do manage to get it to go Max, I can't click on anything on the menu because the Inkscape resizes like it's going from Max to full screen.

I didn't have these problems before. They just started out of the blue.

I already did a complete removal through Synaptic then reinstalled but still have the problems.

I did notice that it started after I installed Xara. I have since removed it but still have the problem.

I had that problem a while back because of CompizFusion. When I disabled it, Inkscape worked just fine. If you have desktop effect enabled, you could try disabling them and see if that helps.

I guess I should have said that... Already disabled effects. The effects was causing a problem with MoviePlayer blinking.

So that didn't fix the problem.
