Hi, I'm very new to Ubuntu, and I've looked around and found similar problems, but none exactly like this one.

When I install Ubuntu inside windows 7, and boot Ubuntu normally, the screen is blank. I try to load ubuntu in it's version of 'safe mode' (simple graphics or whatever?) And I see the background, while windows come up saying it's finishing it's installation. Great I thought, until "no root file system is defined. Please correct this from the partitioning menu". I click ok, and it comes up again...I can't do anything else, so I'm force to to a hard shutdown.

The thing is...I'm installing inside windows, not doing it's own install in a private partition. I checked in BIOS and my harddrive IS set to IDE. I saw some people saying you have to set the root directory to / or something, but I'm not sure what they mean.

Please keep in mind that I'm a new to the OS.
