Trying to install 8.1 onto Compaq Armada 7400 laptop which had been running OK (although incredibly s-l-o-w under Windows). Ubuntu starts from CD OK, when I tried to install to hard drive is where I messed up. Ubuntu now shows two drives - 1.4GB and 7.7GB. I probably screwed up the partitions...:(
Unable to enter BIOS on system startup (pressing F10). Appears I've deleted the BIOS from the hard drive. Regardless, Ubuntu will start and run from CD although performance is choppy and slow.
When I click the install, it gets to step 4/Prepare partitions and the No root file system (No root file system is defined. Please correct this from the partitioning menu) error pops up.
I'm obviously not the sharpest tool...How should I proceed?
