You know you want to support '76. Do it.

If cost was your only consideration you wouldn't be posting. You obviously realize there are certain intangible benefits that come with a System 76... system.

Support their mission. You'll be a better human being for doing so.

You could get an Ubuntu Dell though, which is supporting the same idea.

I'd say go with System 76 if you want a really nice reasonably high end Laptop.

If all you want is a cheap as possible Laptop then go with Dell.

System76 and ZaReason don't appear to offer any decent sub-$700 notebooks at this time (in fact, ZaReason has nothing below $1000 other than an Asus Eee). If you're shopping a higher price than that, then check them out.

www.newegg.com has some good deals on laptops though you'll have to research compatibility.

Oh and don't use the Dellbuntu (i think i made that up) because their repos aren't as up to date as the regular ubuntu ones. If you do get the dell, put regular ubuntu on it. I still recommend system76 though :)

Cost isnt a concern my grandpa set up a trust to help my family out with college tuition and we get a free laptop up to 2000$.

In that case, go nuts. And check out ZaReason, as they're pretty popular around here too. :)
