No Flames
Just expirenced this, and thought it was humorous, so I wanted to share
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm in class right now and I'm taking notes as well as browsing the forums. The kid in front of me is running a windoz box, and he has missed all of the notes because he just finished Windows Error Recovery...and now he has to wait for Vista to install updates before the box will even load.
Last time I had an issue with linux in class, I just threw in my liveUSB and took notes in leafpad http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/img/smilies/big_smile.png
My wife has been having issues with her cpu lately...even after a fresh install (and cleanup of crapware) of XP...I think I can convert her to linux soon...muahahhahahaha

I don't know what M$ or Windoz is, please educate me. I use my USB Fedora at school but I certainly do not try to make other people use it, it's not worth it.

I don't see how you cannot expect some sort of flame considering you wrote M$ and Windoz.
Besides, shouldn't this be in Ubuntu Testimonials & Experiences?

BTW - I like chicken too...:P

It's only better if you think it's better. I don't think it always is. In this one opportunity Linux won out but other times it doesn't

Without flames either wouldnt taste crispy tough, so the OP fails.

I'm a bit like this  To quote Jules: "My girlfriend's a vegetarian, which pretty much makes me a vegetarian" - To be fair, I saw a documentary called Earthlings (you can view it here (http://veg-tv.info/earthlings)) and I concur that it's for a good cause really. I allow myself meat only on the weekends, where I gorge myself on delicious chicken schnitzel. Eventually I'll be cutting weekends to one day, then zero. But I do love my meat.

My wife loves how I make mashed potatoes. You don't even need any gravy if you don't want they are so creamy. And I leave the peels on them, for that added texture (and nutrients of course). Costco has some awesome corn on the cob. Freeze it, then pull it out later and pop it right in the oven without defrosting, with baked potatoes, and they come out crunchy and juicy.

I use garlic in a lot of my cooking, but I'm not sure I've had chicken this way...

Original Post: M$ and ******* is the primary way I see it posted here in the forums...I'm just trying to to be a cool kid and fit in :(
Flames: I'm just sharing an experience... I hoped "no flame" would have set the appropriate tone...of course anyone can flame anything, anytime if they so chose, and no caviot will prevent such.
Chicken: General Tso all the way!
Mashed Potatoes: Dont like potatoes
Corn: I'm from Nebraska, I'm required by state law to love corn.

I can't accept that being vegetarian is healthier because our bodies are designed to get energy and nutrients from meat as well. All it takes is choosing quality meat products.
Vegetarian as a choice I can accept, because it's your right.

The thread has been hijacked!
I was about to report the thread so it can be moved to Testimonials and Experiences..
But, now I see that it became a chitchat about Chicken. ><;

I never took notes using a laptop or notebook in a class. I just use my laptop for everyday thing (browse the web, listen to music, etc), and do my assignments (write essays).
I only use GNU/Linux :)
On the other topic. This is what I always wanted to say:
Chicken > Turkey

No need to try to fit in. You'll find there are a number of MS haters, but then there are also a number of us that realize that kind of attitude is part of the problem in the first place since it serves little more than to drive potential free spirits away, much like the Mac fanboism does.

I would actually agree - everytime someone asks me about linux, the only "negative" thing I say about windows is when I note that you can change just about everything on linux, unlike windows. Thats it. Then I just hand them my laptop and say have it.
Although I still wish I could fit in...so many things never acomplished in high school...;)

And it's not only that...
1) He presumes that Windows itself is at fault for its becoming unusable on that other kid's machine (the windows laptop I'm typing from right now hasn't had any real issues not caused by me or a third party in the two years I've had it)
2) Acts like a linux desktop never becomes unusable and its users never resort to reinstalls... which I can say from personal experience and observation of these forums is false.
It'd be another thing if at least he had any valid point to make.

Then you should've called the thread "Why LiveCDs/USBs beats getting stuck in the moment with a broken OS", because there's a Windows-based (and probably legally questionable, but who honestly cares) live CD named BartPE and not even all UNIX-like live CDs are Linux.

Then I will keep you in mind next time so as not to step on any toes. Winows was only blamed because I have had that same thing happen to me - figured you all wouldn't give a ****.

You know, when somebody tries to bash Microsoft because he thinks everyone here is a Linux fanboy, and then he gets slammed in the face with the exact opposite opinions, it's pricelss.

Ok people, no need to keep telling the OP about how uncool or unacceptable it is to express M$.
No-one wants to be "crushed" by constant critiques.
Anyway, stopie. I am glad that you like GNU/Linux.
Keep up with your studies and explore the Operating System. There is much to learn.
Good Luck on your finals! or Enjoy your vacation if you are in another part of the world :)
