View Full Version : [ubuntu] From Ubuntu 8.04 to Ubuntu 8.10 using internet...

If i install on my computer Ubuntu 8.04, can i upgrade it using internet to Ubuntu 8.10?

yep of course you can, just go to the software sources first and select updates on the tabs and ensure normal releases is selected and not LTS then go to your updates and check for updates. It will appear at the top of the window with a button to Upgrade.

I got some problems... :(
I go there, chech for updates, somethink installed...

Then i click there and view my version of Ubuntu, but its still 8.04... ;(

See the "Release Upgrade" option? Make yours the same, so it shows "Normal Releases". THEN do your updates and you'll be prompted about a new release being available.

Go to System/Administration/Software Sources.
Click on the "Updates" tab.
Down at the bottom you'll see a menu for "Only Notify About Available..." with a menu for choices.
Choose "Normal Releases" from the drop-down menu.
Close, Reload.
You'll be prompted about a new version being available for download.
Follow the prompts to install. Be patient; it will take a while.
