Perform non Standard actions

Hi Guys
I'm looking for a way to use Keyboard shortcut to perform non standard actions It doesn't seem possible from the GUI end of it as you can't edit the commands but I thought there may be a way to do it from terminal I just don't know how
Any thoughts wise brothers?

I've never used in personally but I think you should look into xmodmap.
This will only work for xwindows though
