View Full Version : [kde] How to get KDE 4.2.1 w/o compiling

I just installed Kubuntu 8.10 because KDE 4 seems to be getting stable enough to use. I added the PPA from the Kubuntu website and enabled all unsupported updates, but there doesn't seem to be an update for KDE 4.2.1.

Does anyone know of a trusted repository that would allow me to upgrade or are there plans to make the upgrade available fairly soon?

You just need to add a repository - instructions here:

http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-4.2

and voila! I love KDE 4.2 by the way - I think it totally makes up for KDE 4.1. :-)

I've followed those instructions, and I was able to successfully update to 4.2. However, I want to update to 4.2.1, which was released some time last week. Kubuntu.com always seems to have notifications about new releases, but I haven't seen anything about 4.2.1.
I've run updates several times, and there aren't any packages that are being held back, but I cannot update past 4.2.0.

any one know how to install KDE desktop like in Kubuntu without Kubuntu CD or internet connection, i used Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid :( :confused:

I have just read that they are in the kubuntu-experimental repositories. Perhaps there are stability issues that prevent them from being included in updates or backports.
