Dear community,

for the first time in a long time i can't seem to solve a problem by searching through the net and reading many good tutorials and forum threads.

I've installed Ubuntu 8.10 on my new Computer (AMD 790GX / SB 750 chipse - HD3300 onboard graphicscard) - during installation i had the monitor connected by VGA cable. Now i bought a DVI KVM Switch and thus need to use the DVI output.

Now with the Monitor connected by DVI Cable the screen goes blank just after GRUB (and it doesn't come back a minute later etc.).

But if i choose recovery Mode @ grub and then "resume boot" in the first screen displayed, all will work perfectly fine.

I also tried out "repair Xorg.conf" in recovery mode, but it didn't help.
I tried installing the proprietary drivers, too. Nothing changed.
I had a look at the xorg Config and various explanations and tutorials, but i didn't find anything on changing the output (maybe i overlooked something, who knows).

If anybody could point me to the settings that determine which output is used i would appreciate that.
