i was looking at this article here on how to install KDE and keep Gnome on ubuntu, http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Install-KDE-4-2-on-Ubuntu-8-10-106118.shtml and it got me thinking. I scrolled down and saw that the guy was downloading at a rate of about 1700 KB/s, and the thing is my Internet speed will allow for that download speed, but I am only downloading the updates at a rate of about 300 KB/s, so i take it it is because of the server, so which one do u use, wich one is the fastest? what would be best for my area? (i live in eastern Canada, and face it, the default Canadian server is really slow)

Well, assuming that you absolutely cannot just install kubuntu from disc, there is a built in tool for choosing the fastest server. Goto System>Administration>Software Sources. Click on the drop down box labeled "download from" and select other. Then on the right, click "Select best server". Let it run and it will choose the server with the best ping for you.
