View Full Version : [gnome] Getting programs to start on the desktop properly

I run Hardy on my laptop and Intrepid on my desktop. Both run Gnome and compiz with "normal" screen effects. With both, certain programs come up with the title bar underneath the top toolbar (or whatever it's called). Is there any way to make that area inaccessable or to place the problematic programs where they can be accessed?

On Intrepid I have two programs that open at startup. QAMix comes up long before the toolbar and locates itself at the top left edge of the desktop, where the titlebar gets covered up and it can not be dragged without moving the main toolbar. Another startup program, TWClock has a resource file in /etc/X11/app-defaults that allows it to be placed properly. When I start Gimp, one of the windows comes up with the titlebar covered.

On my laptop, one of the windows of openoffice comes up covered.

Is there any way to fix this?
