Hi everyone,:D
I am a newbie and have loads of questions, I was recently a member of the dark side (darth microsoft) but since using Ultimate Edition 2.1 I am well and truly sold on ubuntu.

Q. As there are 2 desktops to tab between - is it possible to have different wallpaper on each ?

Q. Why wont my 3 ZTE mobile broadband modem work? It did work with the live version of the dvd but once i installed and updated it wont connect! I have seen on other forums that some code may need inputing, but as an ex windows user i am inept at linux!!! any help would be much appreciated.

I am sure you will hear from me again soon as i explore this wonderful system.

Thanks

well you have some ways to go but you'll get there first you need "compiz settings manager" install. look at this detail guide HERE (http://my.opera.com/ubuntunerd1/blog/how-to-install-compiz-fusion-in-ubuntu-hardy) and more info on "compiz manager" effects HERE (http://my.opera.com/ubuntunerd1/blog/how-to-use-compiz-settings-manager)
after that look HERE (http://my.opera.com/ubuntunerd1/blog/how-to-get-multiple-desktop-wallpapers-in-ubuntu-8-4-8-10) to get different wallpapers in each screen

Cant install compiz, because when i go to System > Administration > Hardware Drivers, the window which opens is blank, hence not allowing me to download the video drivers. It says 'no proprietory drivers are in use on this system' does this mean my graphics card is not compatible with compiz? ps: using fujitsu amilo pro v3405 laptop.;)
Thanks again.

compiz is already install by default all you need is "compiz settings manager"
try going to System > preferences > Appearance > Visual Effects and hit (Normal or Extra) to see if can activate the effects.

hey how's it going? well to your first question yes there is a way to set different wallpapers to each of your workspaces here is the link for that http://anuragbansal.wordpress.com/2008/05/10/how-to-get-different-wallpapers-on-each-workspace-in-ubuntu/ . Remember though on doing that you can not have icons on your desktop so you do run into that con, but if that doesn't matter to you then go for it ! :D
