Hello

I am trying to install Ubuntu 8.10, every time I pop in the LiveCD. It starts up fine, and gets to the splash screen and half way though the splash screen it goes to a text based screen and says:

Load Hardware Drivers: Failed
[81.960038] USB 1-8: Device not accepting address 2, Error -110

Then it just hangs their and does nothing. I have had Ubuntu 7.04 install on this machine back when it was first released and it never had this problem. How do I fix this? So I can install Ubuntu?

FIRST, have you checked your 8.10 CD's integrity by running the verification function that is found on the initial Ubuntu boot screen menu ?

Yes, I have. It does this with Ubuntu, Xubuntu, and Kubuntu. All of them give me the same thing.

It has been doing this since the release of 8.04

Does your CD drive have the latest firmware installed ?
