Hi, I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit on my new Sony Vaio laptop, I've updated everything but I can't activate the fglrx drivers for my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 . I click 'Active' then a box pops up saying 'Downloading and installing drivers' but it sticks on 0% for ages (there is network activity though), eventually the box disappears, leaving the original activation window, but it still isn't activated...

Any idea's what happening? Does the fglrx support my card?

Many thanks

ATi drivers are poor at best.

Install the drivers with Envy (Works best)
It's available in Synaptic

But, the prob is with activating, not with the driver it self (as far as I know???)

DO you have all the updates?
It is important to be fully updated before trying to use the restricted driver

Also, DO NOT USE ENVY with ATI Drivers!!!

Yes, everything is up-to-date, re-checked again...

You need to reboot after the updates for them to work
