Another Ubuntu/Hardy update... Another breakdown in my wireless. During the past 7 weeks after 4 updates, I have lost my wireless 3 times. I have had to work with the techs at Linksys to re-set the router. This is getting to be very upsetting. I am writing this while linked to the router via LAN cable. Whet ever is common with these updates, they are creating an issue with use Linksys Routers. Is there a way to simply undo the latest update/download ?

Quick question... did you require ndiswrapper to enable your wireless LAN card?

Not that I am aware of... It was a pretty straight forward setup.

Here is the conversation I had with linksys the first time I needed to 're-set' the system.

Hi, my name is Augusto P. (10363). How may I help you? [12:50:25 PM]
Cal: Hi, My computer does not connect to the wireless. [12:51:11 PM]
Cal: I originally thought the problem was the computer, but I just left the public library where it connected fine. [12:52:08 PM]
Augusto P. (10363): Hi Cal, I'd be happy to assist you with that. [12:53:22 PM]
Augusto P. (10363): Before we proceed, may I know which country you are based in and what the router's model and serial number are? [12:53:30 PM]
Cal: United States.. WRT54G 2.4 [12:53:31 PM]
Cal: Just a minute & I will get the serial number [12:53:58 PM]
Augusto P. (10363): Okay. [12:54:53 PM]
Cal: [12:55:20 PM]
Augusto P. (10363): Thank you. Let's check your router's wireless settings. [12:56:53 PM]
Augusto P. (10363): Those can be found on the router's setup page. [12:57:00 PM]
Cal: ok [12:56:35 PM]
Augusto P. (10363): To open the router's setup page, just follow these steps: [12:58:43 PM]
Augusto P. (10363): 1. Open a new Internet Explorer window, type "192.168.1.1" in the Address bar and press Enter.
2. When it asks for a User name and Password, just leave the User name field blank and type the password you set for the router. If you didn't set a password, the default is "admin". [12:58:50 PM]
Cal: ok [12:59:08 PM]
Augusto P. (10363): On the setup page, please click on the Wireless tab, and tell me the settings there. [01:00:09 PM]
Cal: Mixed linksys 6-2.437Ghz Enable [01:01:20 PM]
Augusto P. (10363): Thank you. Please choose a new name for your wireless network and enter it in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box, replacing "linksys", then click Save Settings. [01:02:21 PM]

Cal: Should that be WEP ? [01:09:46 PM]
Augusto P. (10363): No, leave the Security Mode as is. [01:10:38 PM]
Augusto P. (10363): Choose a password for your wireless network and enter it in the WPA Shared Key box. This can be any word or phrase at least 8 characters long. [01:10:45 PM]
