According to my ISP, I trasfered 6000Mb of data this month while I can only think of a few hundred Mb. Now I hope Ubuntu has a log of my network activity so that I can check on my site how much data I transfered. Is there some way to check this? I hope you can help me.

thanks in advance,
David

I don't think there is a traffic log by default, though there is surely some software out there to do it. Yet I never looked into it (I am a happy flatrate user ;))

This might be a package to look in to:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/breezy/net/netmrg

Thanks.
I'm almost sure the activity wasn't caused by my computer. I just wanted to be certain, but I'm afraid it can't be done afterwards. But I guess I could use that package in case it happens again.

Edit: Wow, I need some large other packages for that. Is that really necessary? A webserver?

It seems this packages uses PHP - but don't worry. Apache doesn't eat too much ressources, if you do not use it except for logging.

Yeah. It looks like it would be a bit much for a simple logging solution. I've never used it. I was just trying to help you find a solution. I didn't realize it was going to require such a large amount of dependencies. Probably not a good solution after all.
