I was attempting to upgrade ubuntu and I got advice saying I had to do this...
"you will have to do a fresh install of 8.10, if you don't have your /home on a separate partition then you will have to back-up your data then do the install. when you do the install you can make a separate partition for /home which means that in the future you can reinstall without having to touch any of your personal data."
I don't know how to make a separate partition. I am extremely novice when it comes to this stuff. I use to have a friend who was kind enough to take care of things like this for me. Unfortunately, I don't have that communication anymore. I appreciate the help : )
