I just got Ubuntu, and I need to know how to be able to install the stuff i download. Such as VLC Media player. AVG free as well as others. Please Help Fast.

This (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InstallingSoftware) will help explain how to install software in Ubuntu.
To install vlc you can look for vlc in Add/Remove (Applications>Add/Remove) and then install it.
