View Full Version : [ubuntu] 8.10 installation freeze

I'm just wondering if there is any kind of workaround or fix for the white screen issues in 8.10.

I recently tried switching from openSUSE to the latest ubuntu release (8.10) but was unable to do so due to the frozen white screen I get when trying to install. I've read a bit about it being a graphics driver issue, but none of the "fixes" I've read about have worked for me.

I am using an ASUS F8Va laptop with an ATI Radeon HD3650

If I try to install normally, it loads for a few seconds, the screen flashes a few times, and it finally just freezes on a white screen. If I try to install in safe graphics mode, it does the same thing only it freezes on a command prompt instead.

Any suggestions?

You might be able to get it to load when it is the command prompt freeze by holding CTRL. That's what I had to do. I still have not gotten any kind of response on a possible fix or not for that though.
