Hello,
There is a chance that I will be allowed to set up 10 or so computers using Ubuntu and a ltsp type setup at a small library.
This would also include
-internet sharing (maybe via dial up for a bit until satalite gets installed/any thoughts on isdn)
-desktops that are hard to alter ie remove icons etc so users do not mess them up
-children's software and desktop
-shared resources like printers fax scanning
Any advice would be appreciated. It is a small town with people who are open to change so I could see this really catching on.
Thanks
Al

How much access do you plan to give on these computers? If they are to be more like kiosks or limited use computers, you may want to consider putting something like XFCE on these with a menu bar with only the "allowed" programs.

It makes it easier (I think) for a user to sit down and just have six or eight icons than to have to dig through a new menu structure.

With a limited number of programs available, documentation required for the work station gets down to a cue-card with a picture of the icon and a brief description of what to do with it.
