quick questions about upgrading

are all your settings left intact when you upgrade ubuntu versions? i spent alot of time customizing this version and don't want to lose that. also, wouldn't upgrading from ext3 to ext4 be bound to break something?

just backup everything and hope for the best.

I may be mistaken, but AFAIK you need to reformat if you want to use ext4. Doing an upgrade would get you the 9.04, but you'd still be using ext3.
