Hello, I'm in need of some help. I currently have Ubuntu 5.10, Breezy Badger on my current CP and have not had an upgrade since 2005 or so. I'm attempting to do the upgrade myself, however, I am not having any luck. I went to ubuntu.com and clicked on the link for the upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10 figuring that this would be my best option. I followed the first step, but when I go to the system tab---administration--- there is not an option for software sources. So from there I scrolled down to Network Upgrade for Ubuntu Servers (Recommended). I accessed the terminal and typed in what was directed and got this error...

i don't think that version is supported so you *probably* can't upgrade to 8.10 that way.

you will have to do a fresh install of 8.10, if you don't have your /home on a seperate partition then you will have to back-up your data then do the install. when you do the install you can make a seperate partition for /home which means that in the future you can reinstall without having to touch any of your personal data.
