Grub error 15 and 25

A friend of mine switched me over to Ubuntu from Windows. A while back Ubuntu crashed adn now i cant boot from anything other than the live cd. I have tried find /boot/grub/stage1 with no luck. I get a error15 file not found. Any ideas?

what does your /boot/grub/menu.lst look like?
im pretty sure u can get there form a live disk

is this camand used in the terminal

i have never used that command before.
but you can just navigate there and then paste whats displayed on the page. Im still trying to figure out why Ubuntu just stopped booting out of nowhere. did you configure anything prior to the crash? or an update perhaps?

not sure. im a noob here and my computer crashed months ago so im not sure. its just been a headache trying to fix it so i keep puting it off after i get nowhere after a while.

well you can always just re-install the Ubuntu if you dont have anything important on your HDD

when i reinstall i get the same errors. i tried every way i can think of to reinstall ubuntu.

thats weird.
try using a new install cd or make a install flash-drive.
there must be something wrong with the cd if youre getting grub errors on a fresh install

the cd is good. i have uses diffrent ones. it seems not to be able to find or read grub.

alright, this seems to be out of my range of experience. my next bit of advice is to search the forums for other threads on problems similar to yours. You will most likely find a soultion that way.
