mutt exim4 imap setup?

I would love to join the holy grail of mutt email, but having troubles. I've looked at many other help files, but they are all for other mutt+something-else setups. Is there a walk-thru-guide for installing mutt, exim4 (I understand this is Ubuntu's recommendation?) using IMAP and Fastmail, my email service on an Ubuntu (Gutsy) installation. Maybe there's a better mutt combination?

I know I'm asking a lot. I've spent days trying various options and had frankly given up for awhile -- I'm currently using Evolution, but that seems like cheating ;) Any help, links, much appreciated. No hurry.

Hi,

If you are using IMAP you might be just as well to use msmtp with mutt. This would be a much more light-weight setup than using exim. I presume you have the relevant IMAP settings for Fastmail?

OK, tried it, but so far exim gets me further along in the process. Right now, I can access my IMAP inbox, but cannot send. Will keep tweaking either smtp option till something works. I keep getting a "child exited 127 error" message. I'll google it and keep going. Thanks.
