OK I am very new with linux.
I downloaded and installed 8.1 without difficulty. However when I go to update the nvidia driver...it appears to work...and then says to use the driver setting you must restart.
I restart...and instead of going to the typical startup...it takes me basically into text mode only...no graphics at all.
First off...if that happens again in the future...is there a way from the text command promt to backtrack to an older version..ie the original that worked?
More importantly how can I make sure to download the correct nvidia driver and make sure when I restart...I get to the gui desktop environment.
Any answer you give...be very clear since I am an absolute rookie in terms of linux.
