I am looking for a good ftp program. I have tried filezilla, but I am looking for one with a built in text editor. So it can save right on my websites server without download and uploading. Are there any good programs out there that can do this?

Personally I use the FireFTP addon in firefox. I don't know of an FTP client with a built in editor.

You could just mount it into the filesystem, and edit it with any editor on your system. see : http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-10878_11-5031896.html

I use Fire FTP for large multiple file transfer.

If I edit files online I use gedit with nautilus.

Here is a link to the article explaining on how to setup gedit as an Ide and it explains how to use gedit to edit files online

There is a gedit plugin that lets you browse and edit FTP files. But I am not sure of the name.

I use FileZilla on Mac & Linux, it does a superb job for my needs.

Whenever I need to upload to FTP, I too use Filezilla. Does what I need, and does it well.

I can't stand filezilla...

Mounting to your file system is super easy in Ubuntu, just to Places -> Connect to Server, then your FTP looks like a thumb drive, and you can open your files with Gedit and save them just like normal files.

I am yet to find a GOOD ftp client on linux...not as good as WINSCP, anyway.
