Using 8.10, and Dell Inspiron 8000,
the live CD runs ok, display looks good.
However, when I install from the CD the install process seems to be incomplete and an error message is seen
cannot start xserver

The only action possible seems to be: to abort completely with a hard reboot.

I have examined the xorg.conf files both in the live CD session and also on the hard drive from the partial install, they are identical.

I tried an install from the 8.10 alternate CD but the install process did not complete, not sure if for the same reason.
The CDs are self checked ok.

I am aware that this laptop had ATI graphics in the early models and a nvidia graphics, more powerful, in the later models, this is an
[nvidia geforce2 GO]

any ideas please?
